Where news comes first
After 22 years of being held to ransom by pornmongers, and useless search sites that proffer links for webcams and weight loss tablets, this domain is finally back in the right hands. Getting it back was not easy or cheap. In November of 2024, it was being offered up for bids of no less than $2500. Thankfully by April of this year, it was being offered for a much more palatable figure.
Clearly this short and snappy domain served as the perfect gateway to other questionable domains like igotguns.com and givemepink.com. After two years of parading adult material, it became one of those generic What you need, when you need it sites, which are all very well if what you need just so happens to be weight loss or generic erectile dysfunction tablets.
The domain has been to China, lending a hand to the Ceiling Circular Fan Company, and it has also been to Switzerland to promote Eisenformel 1152, for those affected by iron deficiency. The site even pointing out the following:
So far, there are two iron resolutions for iron therapy:
- First Iron Resolution: Healthier People for Lower Costs
- Second Iron Resolution: Equality for Women
It really is incredible how a domain relating only to an AM radio frequency, can command such fevered interest. Even now, there are still German-language sites out there, still linking to this domain. The only glimmer of a connection to its original use was a link on a page about former ITN/LBC newsreader Daljit Dhaliwal.
The voice of London
While there is no firm plan for the use of this domain, do take some time to enjoy this audio clip. If anything, it should make you feel at home.
And if that is not enough, then see how many voices you can recognise in this clip. There are 77 of them.
Fans of Clive Bull will no doubt be familiar with this piece of library music entitled Economix.
This library music piece, titled Rock Report, was the theme to the Anne Diamond and Tommy Boyd breakfast show in 1999.
More snap, less crackle, no pop
For enquiring minds, this domain is now the property of Ray Murray, who provided the original "1152 - The Unofficial LBC Site" from 2000 to 2004. Thanks are given to Andrew of Advent Internet who registered the domain during that time. Just be thankful this domain is no longer being used to sell medicines of dubious origin, or offer hot webcam action - whatever that may be. Just give this site time to make something of itself.
